The Architect

Forty years after Cuixmala.

Robert Couturier designed Cuixmala, the Goldsmith estate on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, at thirty-two. Las Orcas is his return to that coast.

Paris-trained and New York–based since 1981, Couturier has built across four continents, was named to the AD100, and is the author of Designing Paradises (Rizzoli). Here he has drawn a small village: private residences that share a garden, a beach and a quiet.

The Place

Until now, the coast could only be visited. Now it can be inhabited.

Within thirty minutes of La Barra sits the most concentrated world-class architecture in Mexico.
